Production, Distribution and Marketing
Production
The Idea - The idea that occurs to a writer, director, producer or an actor. Ideas need to be fresh and marketable in this competitive industry.
Development - The idea is then evaluated and must be original. If the idea is successful, a writer is hired to complete the treatment of the story and the budget is taken into account at every point of the process.
Pre-production - Where the planning, scripting and the storyboard must be completed.
Post Production - This is where the film is edited, the directer or producers will alter the editors work as they please until they are happy.


Distribution
The completed film is sent to the studio and the studio will make a licensing agreement with the distribution company. The company then decides how many prints/copies to make of the film. Distribution company will show the movie screening to the prospective buyers representing the theaters. Then they negotiate which movie they wish to lease and the terms of the lease agreement with the distribution company. The theaters will receive the prints few days before the opening day.

Marketing
During pre-production, publicity campaign is designed for the project. During production, the unit publicist coordinate the behind-the-scene footage also the interviews, the magazine, the newspaper and television outlet requests. A press junket is held before the release at a hotel with principal players an reporters from around the world
Exhibition
Exhibition includes not the production or the distribution of motion pictures, but their public screening for paying customers in a site devoted to such screenings, the movie theater. The exhibitor sells the experience of a film and frequently concessions like soft drinks and popcorn.

Pre-production: Planning, scripting and storyboarding, etc.
Financing:This happens before pre-production, and involves budget forecasting, finding investors, etc.
Screenplay: This can be considered a separate stage before pre-production.
Production: The actual shooting/recording
Post-production: Everything between production and creating the final master copy.
Distribution: After post-production, delivering the content to the audience (e.g. film prints, CD/DVD, etc).


DISTRIBUTION:
The distribution of a film(or movie) is the process through which a movie is made available to watch for an audience by a film distributor. This task may be accomplished in a variety of ways;


MARKETING:
Some ways to market a film are:
- with a theatrical release,
- a home entertainment release (in which the movie is made available on DVD-video or Blu-ray Disc)
- or a television program for broadcast.


MARKETING:

- Viral video-which means distribution of the trailer.
- Promotional tour-where the actors/actresses take part in interviews
- Merchandise-products promoting the film
- Film posters-on billboards and buses
